This display was outside the entrance to the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum from May 22, 2019 to November 16, 2020. The 30 foot piece is an enlarged version of American realist Seward Johnson’s “Return Visit” sculpture, and original work of art commissioned for Gettysburg Plaza in Pennsylvania. The sculpture depicts President Lincoln gesturing with his famous hat and talking with modern-day man, who holds a bronze copy of the Gettysburg Address, indicating the validity of Lincoln’s words in today’s world. The life-size sculpture stands near the historic Wills House in Gettysburg where Lincoln finished writing the Gettysburg Address before delivering this famous speech at the dedication of the soldiers National Cemetery on November 19. 1963.
