Description
The Illinois village of New Salem was home to Abraham Lincoln during his young adult years, from 1831-1837. Located 20 miles from Springfield just south of Petersburg, New Salem is now a state historic site the comprises 23 reconstructed buildings including homes, stores, workshops, mills, a schoolhouse/church, and an inn or tavern.
